About Mesa Meadows

Our vision is to foster a vibrant, economically vital community in Downtown Golden by seeking tenants who give back to and help retain the small-town character of our area.

We are proud to be a part of the Golden community, with more than 40 years serving its commercial and residential real estate needs. From main street retail and restaurants, to unique office spaces, to Downtown residence, we offer a range of rental opportunities. To support Downtown commerce and activity, we also own and operate two parking lots. In addition to the high-quality properties, we strive to offer our tenants a dedicated personal management service.

We are a family-run business with deep roots in the community. Our family, the Foss’, arrived in Golden in the early 1900s and soon took over as the proprietors of the Golden drugstore. Over the years, F.A. Foss worked to expand the drug store, with it eventually becoming a centerpoint of the Golden’s Downtown.

Our family started Mesa Meadows to manage and develop properties in Downtown Golden.  While the drugstore closed in 2008, we took the opportunity to repurpose the building into multiple retail and hospitality businesses. This is just one of our many residential and retail property projects we have handled since founding the company.

We support our community through a variety of local initiatives including the Golden Civic Foundation, founded by Foss family members. Strong believers in the potential of Golden, our family members Barbara and F.A. Foss established in collaboration with other community members the Golden Civic Foundation in 1970, an organization with which we remain deeply involved today.

We feel honored to be part of our community’s unique history and we look forward to our shared future.

The history of Mesa Meadows

The Foss family drugstore opens

Henry J. “Heinie” Foss purchases Langenhan drugstore and it becomes Foss Drug Company in Downtown Golden.

Dorothy Allen Foss takes over the drugstore upon the death of her husband Henry Foss in 1918

Dorothy runs the store until her son F.A. Foss (shown here) returns from World War II.  She oversees expansions of the store.

Barbara and F.A. Foss run the drugstore

Starting in 1946, Barbara and F.A. Foss run the drugstore for 50 years with
innovative ideas and a commitment to supporting the community.

The Golden Civic Foundation

In collaboration with other community members, Barbara and F.A. Foss help establish the Golden Civic Foundation with the express intention of raising capital funds for civic improvements where tax revenues were not available. Mesa Meadows has been fundraising for the Golden Civic Foundation for over 50 years.

Murals in Golden 1994 – Current

The Foss family commissions murals by artists such as Robert Dafford, Jessie Crock, and Kathryn Petroff–including the famous Foss Mural on 13th St–to improve the aesthetics of downtown.
